SMDH - C&P from my month board

Joe Paterno related:

"I'm sure a lot of people think he got what he deserved, but I think he was such a great man and is truly the meaning of PSU. So sorry to see him pass!"

And the responses agreed with her.  FFS.

Re: SMDH - C&P from my month board

  • One person I went to HS with said it well on FB:

Paterno died without being held truly accountable for his inaction in a terrible situation. I hope for every prayer said on behalf of his soul, three are said for each victim of that tragedy.

  • Thank God for this thread - I live in Central PA and seriously thought I was the only person who didn't think that we should all forget his huge "mistake". I've been thinking of the victims all morning. Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

i assume he died partly from lung cancer, partly from shame.

I'm sorry for the crap his family had to go through recently--because having dad/grandpa/whomever be hero, villian, ill, dead, *stress* in that short amount of time has to be havoc on them.
    And that sucks.

But I also had a gut "ugh" feeling in my stomach at the candlelight-vigil crap.
Maybe a vigil for victims of abuse isn't as pretty for the TV but it'd do a helluva lot more good.

Actually, candlelight vigils don't do anyone any good, but whatever.

If the Paterno family has any dignity at all, they will request donations to child advocacy groups in lieu of flowers.

  • eh, they *can* raise awareness.
and build up community support.  And, w/ deaths,  provide a safe place to grieve and/or tragedy whore

But I think that the tragedy whoring is all that these have done.
