response card wording

So my mom's friend is doing our invites and we are working on wording for all of the inserts.  We are having a sit down dinner and I assumed that we would put on the response card a spot to check off who wanted to eat what, but I came across a website where it said it isn't proper etiquette to have the food choices on there.  I'm so confused!!!  Is this true?  And if you did include food choices on the response card, how did you set up the wording?  Thanks!!

I feel like it's just the opposite - improper to not list the food choices, if there is a choice at all. Guests want to know what they're getting, unless ofcourse they just have the option to choose the day of. We're just saying "Please indicate your meal selection: __ Blah blah blah __ Blah blah blah __ Vegetarian __ Children's

We had to include meal choices, as our venue needs a count of who's eating what so they can bill us correctly.  We phrased it: "Please initial by entree choice: __Savory Herbed Focaccia Stuffed Chicken__Prime Rib of Beef__Pasta PrimaveraWe didn't have many children coming, so we dealt with the two kids' meals we're serving by phone.

Whether  you include the food choices depends on whether your venue needs the food head count in advance, versus the venue taking each guest's order table side.  If they need it in advance, then you need the guests to indicate their selection.  If they are taking each person's order table side, then you don't need to put the food choices on the card.  Or I've also seen where every guests get the same course (usually a surf and turf), in which case you dont need to put the entree options on the card.

Rosita - you aren't even having a buffet!!!   jeezez h.also, how can it be improper to include the meal choices - your caterer has told you in very certain terms that you need a headcount for each entree.  how else would you get the  count if you didn't put it on your response card????

We did table side ordering so we didn't have to put food choices on the rsvp card. Ask your caterer if they have that as an option.
