boring + AW all in one!

I want to play!  I spent my ENTIRE weekend working on Dex's birthday invitation. 

Okay, maybe not the ENTIRE weekend, but several hours, when it probably should have only taken one hour.  Searching for images was the longest part, then I had to redo it twice because of image size/resolution issues. 

I ended up with this - that's the front of the postcard.  Back of the postcard has critical when/where/rsvp info, plus a cheesy poem my mom made up:


Dexter's days are filled with thoughts
Of tractors, trucks, and such.
Wheels and noises, horns and lights,
He loves them oh so much!

And soon he'll be the birthday boy,
With ice cream and some cake.
And if you join him for some fun,
His day you'll surely make!

DG, I love you, I do. The invitations are cute, but  - you do know they sell these premade in packs of 20 at a Walgreen's, right? 

I just wonder how less stressful your life would be if you said "Fck it" once in a while.

I know, bmom. I do.  But then it wouldn't be personalized and youneek! 

And I really think I say "fck it" all too often.  Have you seen their blogs lately?  And my house is filthy (one more week until cleaning people come back).  I was actually itchy last night because I'd chosen sleep over showering one time too many. 

Believe me, for the rest of the stuff, I'm just getting whatever they have at party city.  I happen to know they have tractors, and I'm thinking about getting cheap plastic construction hats for kids to decorate as a craft project (not that many kids will come, but who knows)?

Anyway, I slaved over them, and I'm mostly happy with them.  I tell myself it's for them and their memory books, but I do really know it's for me.  Maybe they'll find them in a box after i die and think "Can you believe ridiculous mom actually spent time on this?" Hopefully that'll be followed by "she really loved us a lot."

And I'm starting Desmond's soon so I won't be busting my butt on them at the last minute.

ugh. it's not handmade or anything like that.  I just designed it myself in photoshop and sent it to overnightprints.com to print them. 

Except to really get them overnight, it was like $200.  Um, no.  So now we will get them no later than 9/28 (party is 10/3).  So yeah, I had to send an email anyway telling people to save the date.
