need ideas for cake layers!

I have my caterer meeting tommorow.. and need to tell them what I want my cake layers to be made of... Give me your best suggestions for unique layers so I can at least have a few good ideas besides the norm. I am thinking one red velvet layer, one traditional pound cake layer and then need 1 or 2 more.. :)

hey oodsie! they didn't give us an option to have different cake layers.  We just were able to pick our top layer and then the rest is vanilla pound cake.  Just wanted to give you a heads up! Enjoy! I just went over my last minute details with Kelli today! Can't believe it's here!

We did 2 layers of carrot cake with cream cheese icing and 2 layers of chocolate chip cake with vanilla buttercream. Yum!

jsant - weird.. i swear on the phone she said to start thinking about what layers we wanted! hmm! okay then... nevermind. LOL. what did you decide for your signature drinks/ice sculpture?

Well we did have to pick what our cake looked like... maybe I am wrong?  hmmm.... We went with a Love Park ice sculpture, and for our drinks we did : "The Red Sox" ( a pomegranate martini), "Cheers" (a peach bellini), The Phillie Phanatic ( Mojito), and Love Park (Cosmopolitan).  Fi is from Boston, so we did a Boston/Philly theme.   Enjoy- it's a lot of fun to pick out everything! Let me know how it goes!

Yay! Our theme is very similar.. We are doing the Love Park ice sculpture too cause it seems to be the one they do the best (some of the others werent as nice so I didnt want to chance it with something too creative) .. and we are going to do a PA/NYC/MI theme cause I live in PA, FI is from MI, and our first date/special place is NYC :) I am thinking Liberty Bell, Big Apple and 2 other martinis. Big Apple will obviosuly be an apple martini.. not sure what we want the rest to be :) Are you soooo excited? I cant believe youre 10 days away!!!!

I am so excited! I can't believe it's here! I just want it to actually be "here."  But when I talked to Kelli today she went over everything we did during our first visit (in June), and it made me excited all over again.  They just offer so much and are sooo very accommodating (for example- they want to know our likes/dislikes for drinks/food as well as our parents and make sure we have food/drink all night), it's just soo nice and reassuring!

Are you doing desserts or breakfast buffet? I am leaning towards breakfast but wasnt sure if that eliminates all desserts besides the wedding cake served? or do they bag that to begin with and give out after?

We're doing breakfast.  They still do a complete Viennese Dessert Table, in addition to a Coffee Bar with espresso and cordials.  OOo and they're going to butler cherry water ice during dessert.  Also, my FI LOVES funfetti cake, and he mentioned it, so they're going to bring him his own personal piece of funfetti cake during dessert! haha.  About the cake-they said they wrap the cake immediately- I'm not sure if it's even served.  I really like the breakfast idea as something different- although either selection is probablye extravagant and wonderful!
