Prenatal pills?

I went to my mom's house today and she handed me a bottle of prenatal pills. I just looked at ehr and said "you do believe me when I say I'm not pregnant right?"

She said yes, but that they are good for some of the problems I've been having health wise. She also made a comment about "when you don't eat." I think she thinks I'm anorexic, which is actually kind of ironic because I eat like a pig when no one else is around, and I've actually gained a few pounds the last couple months. but I digress lol.

basically, I was wondering what you guys think of prenatal pills when you're not pregnant? Is it healthy? Deos it make you more fertile or anything like that?

They don't make you more fertile, but most doctors recommend taking them for at least 3 months before you get pregnant. They're generally just good multivitamins for women.

cool, so they're not going to be pumping me full of stuff I don't need?

I have heard that they help hair and nails growfaster and thicker, so that's cool :)

what TD said - no increase in fertility, but i started taking them for about 6 months before i even "tried" to get KU. the folic acid does help your hair and nails grow faster.

the one thing some women say is that they upset their stomach - i never had that issue.

The doctors will tell you to keep taking them post baby if you breastfeed.

    Thanks guys :)

I generally don't like to take a lot of pills, so I like to check things out before I do. I did some googleing but I wanted to get some opinions too.... appreciate it :)

some docs say every woman of child-bearing-years should take 'em.
I took them for years because of our delays in TTC.

They didn't do anything for me--they're just higher in folic acid.
