Wedding Woes

Let's talk HIMYM, or why Loveshine hates it and everyone else thinks it has gone downhill.

I thought the end was actually fairly realistic, though Mr. Kuus disagreed.  And I was pleased that there was a followup on the return of Veronica, though I was bummed to see my favorite character go, and even a little more bummed to meet Nora II.  Your thoughts?

  • i have to rewatch, but what was the deal with the stripper? is she using barney or something? and did she imply that barney isn't the ladies' man that he claims to be since he spends his nights at the strip club?

when the hell is ted meeting the mother? why are marshall and lily so flipping borning?
  • I think the implication is that guys who spend all their time at the strip club aren't awesome ladies men - they're kind of pathetic.

I'll be jazzed if "your mother" is not the woman Ted ends up marrying, but rather some one-night stand who gets knocked up.

    I agree with you.

I wanted to punch Robin in the face on multiple occasions. I'm glad her BF left her. She used to be more fun, but now she's just whiney and the whole "no kids" thing is really taking over the series.

I can't even remember the Lily and Marshall storyline. They're super boring.

  • I dislike Robin's mom hair.  I've noticed that the character's coolness quotient is directly proportional to the attractiveness of her hair.
    image
  • I also hate her hair. It adds to the many reasons I'm so over the show.

  • it really annoyed me when robin said that kevin took back his proposal because he couldn't look past her not wanting kids. she made it seem like he was unreasonable.
  • I thought he was unreasonable in dating her when the only reason he met her was because she did something crazy out of love for Barney.
    image
  • It wasn't unreasonable at all, but she definitely acted that way. And she gave him about 50 opportunities to take back the proposal. When he did, she got all upset like she didn't expect him to.

  • the relationship was innapropriate. i also find it odd that she had an attack of her conscience about the no-kids thing when she cheated on him with barney.
  • i am sad that kevin is gone, and i am sick of ted's puppy dog love for robin. very annoying. it's dragging out the story when we know for sure that he and robin never end up together. i guess this is setting up how the group ultimately breaks up.
  • Does it break up?  I don't think the kids would call her Aunt Robin if it did.

I would totally watch How Kevin Met Someone Who Isn't Crazy.  He was my favorite.

  • there was a scene in a recent past episode, i think with (veronica? the chick who went to germany to study cupcakes?) and she said the group dynamic was weird because ted/barney/robin all hung out together daily. and then bob saget said she was right. so i think ultimately they all stop spending so much time together.
  • YES!  That's the one I was glad they kinda followed up on here, or at least started to.  Maybe they take a break for a while?  I was confused about how that meshed with "Aunt Robin".
    image
  • victoria. that's her name.
  • You're right.  I don't know why I called her Veronica.
    image
  • i wish he'd meet this damned woman already. and victoria was way wrong for inviting him bacl to her place to wash her dishes knowing that she was going to stay with klaus. what a user.

and ted is a sucker. and also, a little bit whorey for dating and/or sleeping with half the women on manhattan island.
  • i think they're reaching at this point (the whole beekeeper thing from last week?), and need to wrap up the series.

i did like "Karma" the stripper.
  • i forgot about karma. how very artsy of the writers.

I have a theory about that.  Things we know:

*Ted meets The Mother at Barney's wedding.
*The Mother was in the college classroom the first day Ted was teaching.
*From one of the John Lithgow episodes, it's mentioned Barney has a half-sister in college.

I think Robin is going to turn out to be the bride, and the mother is Barney's half-sister. Thus, Aunt Robin and Uncle Barney.

  • Eee.  That's a bit of a squicky age difference, isn't it?
    image
  • Not necessarily - I don't think they ever gave an age to her, just that she was enrolled in college.  I think they left it vague intentionally so they could easily get around that depending on who they wind up casting in the role.
