Wedding dance

Ok so my fiance has agreed for our wedding dance that we would do the ending scence in diry dancing I had the time of my life. Its been my favorite move probably since I was 12. But anyways I was looking on you tube and saw some poeple who also did it and they were wereing short dresses... my is long and kind of poofy. Is that going to be alright do you think. If any body did this dance before do you have any tips? We are going to take dance lessons to learn just have to schedule it!

Honestly, I am not sure this will work wearing a poofy dress. What if he goes to grab you and his hands get caught in the fabric and he drops you....God forbid??

  • Might want to consider a quick change into a shorter dress and then change back into your wedding dress afterwards. The groom at a wedding we attended changed for his mother/son dance and it was fantastic!

    Good luck - daring indeed!!!
  • Are you planning on doing the lift?

If so, your dress is probably going to fall in the grooms face, which might not be the best when he's holding you up in the air.

I've never seen this done at a wedding, but I'm trying to picture it with a big gown and it just seems like you wouldn't get the same effect. Could you maybe wear a short dress for the dance and put your gown back on if you don't want to have a true reception dress?

And I don't mean this to be rude, but I feel like this can either be awesome or go terribly wrong - are you guys dancers?
  • I think the vote is get a short dress lol. So where would I find a cheap white dress... online? and yes i think it could go really good or just be a total flop but im sure there will be laughs along the way!

That's a good attitude to have! I am such a Dirty Dancing fan, I'm sure you guys will have a blast.

I'd actually look at department stores or sites like www.modcloth.com, www.asos.com, www.lulus.com for cheap dresses. Don't look for short wedding dresses necessarily, just short white dresses. Good luck :)

  • jcrew.com has some of their wedding/party dresses on sale right now--I think there are a couple of short white ones. And I definitely vote for a shorter dress, if you are planning to go all out with this kind of dance.
  • What about getting one of those bridal gowns that are 2 in 1? They are the big poofy dress for the ceremony and then the skirt is removable for the reception?
