Flutes and Serving Set...

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to get toasting flutes for the bride and groom, as well as a serving set as an in-store purchase or ordering from online? We don't know if we want them engraved as an option, just something of quality and elegant that isn't expensive. I saw some options on orientaltrading.com, but don't want to be too hasty.
Thanks!

  • Walmart in their wedding/craft section? It is ok to save your money and toast with whatever you're already drinking and borrow a knife from your caterer.
  • Michaels has this stuff too in their wedding section.

  • I got my serving set from Things Remembered
  • Macys, Bed Bath & Beyond, Things Remembered.

All available online and in stores.
  • Someone got me a Vera Wang serving set as a token present at my engagement party. I think they sell it at Macys. I also got Vera Wang "love knots" toasting flutes from my MOH. I'm not using these at my wedding (prob at my rehearsal instead) but they are very nice. For my wedding, my mom bought me the Swarovski Crystal ones. I think these are about $350 though so they are pricey. The Vera Wang is probably only about $60 and are very nice.
  • I'm borrowing my sister's serving set.  For toasting flutes, I'm pretty sure we're just going to use the same plastic flutes that everyone else will have.  If I get ambitious, maybe I'll tie a ribbon around the base of ours.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Funny story here-I got our flutes from Michaels for about $30 and liked them just "Ok."  As I was shopping at Publix a few weeks before the wedding I saw some flutes, yes, at Publix, that I liked even better for $2.50 each!!!!  They are perfectly good and we went and got our names and the date engraved on them at a local store for $20!  What a steal!
  • You don't really "need" toasting flutes, you can use regular flutes and put a little ribbon or crystals on the stems.  I have  never once re-used engraved flutes or wine glasses, and don't like to serve company in them.

A lot of people feel you don't need serving knife sets either, but I use ine every time we have company to serve dessert with.

But if you want them, you should certainly have them.  Hobby Lobby has 50% off on wedding accessories all the time.  Or Wal-mart has them pretty cheap.
  • We received a serving set as a very random engagement gift (DH works at a bank, one of his customers who really liked him found out he proposed and gave him the set). We borrowed the toasting flutes from our venue (They kept a serving set and flutes on hand in case somebody forgets their own or just doesn't purchase them).

I really liked the flutes I saw at Things Remembered and I remember them being pretty reasonably priced ... but at the time, we were on a really tight budget and I couldn't justify spending extra on something I knew we could get for free.

[QUOTE]LisaTyler- I got the swaroski ones as a gift too! I LOVE them

I know; I love them too! They are so beautiful but I am so scared of them breaking. I was just saying to my FI that, after we use them for the wedding, we should prob keep them in the box and then just take them out on every anniversary to have a special toast.
