  • Wedding themes are stupid.  You do not need a "theme".  Rather, choose a color pallette that you like and fits with your venue.  Find things that are comfortable for you, your FI, your BP and your guests.

That being said (and lord have I said that a lot today), aquariams generally have bold colors and minimum lighting, so I think a softer pallette with lots of whites and other pale colors would look really nice.
  • And, I think it would be really weird to do a lot of flowers in an aquarim and really extravagant centerpieces.  I'd keep it minimal.
  • What a great idea to have reception at an aquarium.  I think yes, keep centerpieces really simple, like small glass vases lined up on tables with one stem in each.  Maybe white with some grey and then a small *pop* of colour in the flower, like a gerbera daisy.
  • I attended a wedding there two summers ago. It was beautiful. There was no theme to that wedding and certainly none was needed. I don't think a theme is ever needed, but especially here -- the site is beautiful and speaks for itself. I think adding a theme would make it over the top (in a bad way, not a good one).
  • what an awesome idea!!!!!!

please please please please do NOT put fish in a freaking vase with some flowers and call it a centerpiece. i'm begging you.

as others said it's going to depend a lot on the venue itself. look at the colors in the place and on the walls and try to compliment that. softer colors will probably be better if there are very storng colors on the walls, but really you can make just about anything work if it's done properly.

and try to stay away from themes and go with more of a feeling that you're trying to get across. it might be kinda cool to set the place up as if it were a small island or cave with tanks of swimming fish. you could do that by using ferms and other plants as centerpieces and using rocks and taller plants as decor. or an under the sea type thing using corals and sand as centerpieces.
