Ceremony Start Time

I need help! Is 6:30 pm to late to start our ceremony? We are limited on our date due to family obligations. The only place I found in our budget has to start at 6:30.

Re: Ceremony Start Time

  • I don't think it's too late at all, as long as your reception or cocktail hour is going to start immediately afterward.

Our ceremony was at 6pm and then we had a cocktail hour immediately afterward and the reception started at 7:30.  I thought it worked out great.

  • Our ceremony is starting at 7:30, with the reception immediately following.  You may lose some older guests early in the reception, and your reception probably won't last quite as long, but otherwise I see no problem with it at all.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

  • My ceremony is going to start at 6:30pm. It will be a fairly short ceremony. The reception will be immediately after the ceremony... venues are about 10 minutes from each other. We are saying the reception is going to start at 7:00pm... even if everyone isn't there yet. I want the band up and playing when people walk in and food (buffet style) ready to be eaten. We are taking most of our pictures before the ceremony, so there won't be many pictures to take after. I think we'll be there by 7:10.
  • I dont think that is too late at all. Our wedding is at 7pm with the reception right after. Rather than dinner we're doing a cocktail hour and appetizers.
