Brunch Ideas

My FI and I were recently thinking about doing a brunch wedding, and were wondering if anyone had been to one, what were your thoughts?  Are there any ',must have' items? Anything that we should know first?  THanks for any thoughts :)

Re: Brunch Ideas

  • I haven't been to one (yet...I think I have one coming up), but I like the idea.  You should be sure to have some more filling foods and not just breakfast carb-type stuff.  You can still serve alcohol, and could have breakfast-y signature cocktails, if you wanted.
  • We decided on the brunch!  Much better prices.  Also, mimosas are a good cocktail for a brunch wedding.  It keeps the drinking down because its so early in the day (in case you were debating open bar, etc).  We have decided the brunch buffet is a great way to go, plated meals we feel go to waste most of the time and a buffet people have the option to choose what they want and dont want. No waste!  I hope this helps!
  • I've been to brunch weddings and they were fine - unless you want a big dance party type thing which seems out of place to many people at a brunch.

For drinks, if you offer a Bloody Mary and Mimosa option I think most people would be satisfied.
  • Im doing a small brunch.  Only 35 guests acutally.  So here are some of the extras we added on.  We are going to have a crepes station and an omlet station aswell as a guy carving ham.  Other things we are having are pastas, and chicken.
We arent having dancing and are just having 3-3.5hr long reception.  Ceremony 11a, coctail 1/2hr then reception 12-3 or 3:30 (the guy said he'd run it the extra 1/2 if people are lingering.  the invite will say 3pm)
We opted for just been and wine and Mamosas.  Not much need for Jack & Coke at this time.
We are going to buy a house and plan to have a HUGE 1yr anniversary party at house.  Party Party all night then.  My venue does wedding brunches regularly and I can attach their reg menu if you like to see for inspiration

  • ^For the record, you don't really need to put an end time on the invitations at all. I've never seen that on one.

  • I think a brunch reception can be classy and elegant just like a dinner reception.

Have you ever been to an Easter or Mother's Day brunch buffet? Generally they have a carved ham station, some breakfast potatoes, a "make your own" omelette station, or scrambled eggs..........bacon or sausage, bagels or rolls, and definitely a fruit platter. Maybe some sliced coffee cakes and desserts on a dessert table.

I also agree with the Mimosa if you are having alcohol.
