**Father/Daughter & Step-father/Daughter Dance**

My parents divorced when I was five and my step-father has been in my life since I was about 7 years old, so I am having both of them walk me down the aisle because they both have been a major part of my life.  I wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether or not I should do one father/daughter song where I start dancing with my father and then half way through switch and end dancing with my stepfather OR should I have one song for each of them?  The reason I thought the one song might be the better choice is because I do not want my quests to have to sit through two complete songs.  Does anyone have any suggestions with this Divorce Family Dilemma... it has really been bugging me and I do not know what to do...Please Help :)

  • We went to a wedding where the bride kept the same song and switched from her dad to her stepfather in the middle of the song. If you wanted to have two separate songs you could always have the DJ/band only play the first minute or so of the first song and then go into a shorter version of the second song.
  • If you want two separate songs, you could do one at the beginning of the reception, then do another during one of the meal courses (so guests don't have to just sit and stare at you ... they can eat their salads or something).

  • I am in the same boat as you are. I think I am going to do 1 song and switch 1/2 way through. Now I'm trying to decide who to have go 1st lol

  • Yeah I think that I am going to have each one have a special song.  I think that I will start off with my dad because he was the first father figure in my life and then I will have my FH and his mother dance and then I will dance with my Stepfather to a special song. thanks for your advice...
