Wasn't it on this board?  The bride whose FI didn't want a dollar dance and another poster said she was having a 50/50 raffle instead?  Because that's so much better than a dollar dance.....

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.  Like I said in that thread, I don't really mind dollar dances, although they make me feel a bit awkward because I never carry cash, especially at a wedding.  But if a couple started selling raffle tickets, I would walk the hell out and seriously reevaluate my relationship with them.  Nothing makes you feel like a special part of someone's life like being hit up for money.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

    Ugh, and this was AFTER I had to go through the pain in the @$$ process of explaining my friend's uber-awful "alternative".And yeah, 50/50s belong at things like benefit dinners and CYO basketball games ... you know, where the money goes to a WORTHY cause.
