Seating Chart

Help! I am soo lost on where to even begin to make a seating chart. Cab anyone offer any suggestions (DIY? OR buy template- where? and where can you print them?)Thanks!

Re: Seating Chart

  • I read another post on here that suggested doing cards. That way people can pick up their card with their table assignment and take it with them to their table. I thought that was a great idea. And be sure to put them in alphabetical order so that it will be easier for them to spot thier names. I would start out by scribbling somthing on paper first so that you know where everyone should sit.  If you're stuck on doing a chart, just list people's names alphabetically with their numbers beside their names. Do an "A" column and list all of the "A" last names and follow through accordingly. You could do it simply on Excel. Try just googling "seating chart ideas" under images and see what inspires you... that's what I've done for just about everything... Good Luck!
  • I created one in publisher and it was pretty easy once I got the hang of it.  You just use a bunch of text boxes and then move them around to where you want.  There are also a bunch of Etsy sellers that create them as well for around $50.Good luck!
  • I'm thinking of doing a sign at the front door with table assignments - something classy with a map of where they will go (the reception hall has 2 floors for seating). Then on the tables, it will have table numbers and the names on the slip so people can at least choose where they sit at their table. You could talk to your reception hall for any suggestions as well, or they might be able to suggest what people typically do.
  • I wanted to do a seating chart, but then decided to do escort cards at the last minute (3 days before the wedding)... which i eneded up being glad i did because i'm getting married tomorrow and today i realized you can only get 8 people per table, not 10 like i had planned so i had to rearrange people, and then i had 6 people cancel today, whch would have left me with a table of just 2 people... so i'm glad I had the flexiability to change things around at the last minute.
