Candy Favors

Ok, so my fiance and I decided that we wanted to have a candy shop for the favors.  I think we are going with about 6 different candies.  The problem I have is how much of each to buy...we are expecting around 150.  The bags are small and we have someone working the scoops.  any suggestions on how much and what candy...i'm avoiding chocolate all together.

  • I'm not sure if this helps, but Jelly Belly jelly beans are $81.00 for 10lbs. I can't remember the website right now (Probably Jellybelly.com or something similar), but it's like the first one that pops up if you google them. We're having 100 guests, and doing little box favors. We bought 2 cases (One of Cappuccino, one of Toasted Marshmellow). We know we're going to have some left over. Jelly Belly also sells these candies called "Champagne Bubbles" for the same price as the beans. They're champagne (White grape) flavored gel candies, covered in white non-pariels. They're actually really yummy and very pretty for weddings (We briefly considered them before deciding the jelly beans were more "us"). I have no idea how much you should order though, maybe if you called the company direct, they might be able to give you an estimate. I know right on the website they give ordering guidelines for wrapped favors (Like "for x amount of 3 inch bags, order z amount of beans"). HTH!

  • The formula that I was recommended by the candy shop I used (if you're near metro Detroit, Doc Sweet's in Clawson, they were SO helpful and the prices were really reasonable, and they ordered it for us and it came in 7 days) were to go with 1/2 lb. for each guest. For us it was a little over 90lbs. total for all the candy. It worked out really well, because we didn't have a lot left over, and everyone had as much as they wanted. They had a great selection of sugary candy.
