Yep mine too. I just think he's absolutely awful.......

So disappointed. I am thinking they like to pick up these winners to try and rehabilitate them.

This just goes to show the integrity of this team. Awesome.

Seriously? Seriously??I can't wait until he walks out for the first time with the team... Philly fans will let him know how they feel.

I'm thinking like a mom on this for sure. Since he is back in the spotlight, I hope that he is shown as someone who is turning his life around (even though I am so against him making lots of money again). I guess pretty much anything can go in this world anymore.

boooo!!!!  No one wants him but for some reason the Eagles see it as an opportunity?!?  Whoever made that decision needs to be fired!
  • edited December 2011
I don't condone what he did (obviously) but I do feel he's paid his debt to society and is working to restore his image (by working with the SPCA, etc).Sunday night on 60 minutes he will be interviewed (along with the president of the national Humane Society who says Vick deserves another chance). If the leader of the Humane Society is willing to give the guy a second chance, so am I.Besides, I'm a cat-lover...(just kiddin')

I'm all for a 2nd chance but why should he be allowed to go back into the NFL? I just wish it was a different job where he won't have fame and money. I hope the Eagles can help him rehabilitate. I don't know how much they got for him...anyone know?

I love animals...especially dogs...but....What MV is disgusting, but I agree that everyone deserves a second chance.  He paid is debt and was/is a good football player.  He will (hopefully) be on his BEST behavior now and maybe can change his reputation, and be a good influence on kids who might be wrapped up in something similar?!  (teacher speak)  Also, there are guys in pro sports, past and present, that have committed crimes and people eventually look the other way.  From murders, guns, drugs, domestic abuse, DUI, fighting, etc, etc, etc....these guys (mostly) were allowed back in the game, so MV should get another shot.I mean, OJ is in the hall of fame!

I was so against him coming back to the NFL for a long tme. But after hearing the things he has been doing and having the support of the SPCA and also Tony Dungy I feel ok about. We will see how it goes I guess. He could come back as late as 6 week into the season and his salary is extremely low considering what he was making for years. Also, just from thinking about what Andy Reid has gone through with his sons going to prison and trying to rehabillatate themselves and get their lives back in order, he probably appreciates the possibility of a second chance and maybe hopes that he can help.

Very good point, Trishie, about the Reid boys.  Also, Tony Dungy will be a great mentor for Vick

Everyone was saying that the only teams that would take him would be one with a compassionate coach. He knows he has to give 1000% or he will be shunned forever. Sure there will be fans that will boo him but hopefully he proves his worth. The eagles are smart with their drafts and recruits. I am sure they thought long and hard about the pros and cons of this signing.

To me, all that matters is that the Birds win. Most Vick bashing Eagle's fans will be all over him when he does something good for the team. It is what it is....

You may not agree with it, but if someone handed you some Eagles tickets, are you telling me you wouldn't go? Will you not watch them on TV? (rhetorical questions)I don't agree with what he did, but I agree with pp that it is what it is.

Oh hell no! I'd still go to a game in a heartbeat and will watch every game they play. This wasn't the players fault. I am now wondering how much actual playing time Vick will have - probably not too much.

Donte Stallworth killed a man and he is suspended from the NFL for 1 season (and he only got 1 month in jail - wtf Texas).  Ray Lewis was involved in a double murder and didn't even get suspended from the NFL, instead he just got a small fine (I don't think he did any jail time either).  Leonard Little killed a woman drunk driving years ago and got suspended for a whopping 8 games.Michael Vick served 18 months in jail for a [terrible and heinous] crime that most don't even serve jail time for.  He confessed and is now working with groups to try prevent these types of crimes from happening in the future.  I believe he is truly sorry for his actions.  He had to pay back millions of dollars and even declared bankruptcy.  The man served his time.  Kudos to the Eagles for giving him the second chance he deserves.  The American penal system is based on rehabilitation and second chances, that is why most convicts get released eventually.  Now the spot light is on him to show the world that he has changed and can still be a reformed role model.

You can't live in the past, only what is happening now. I am all about rehabilitation but it needs to continue out of the spotlight, not in front of millions of fans making tons of money. The deal is done with now and I keep questioning the minds of businesspeople and how money-hungry they can be. At least, I'm assuming they are doing it to bring a championship in.
