Advice re reception centerpieces and tablescape

I am getting married in August.  My colors are black, ivory, and sage green, and the reception is at a golf club that has taupe walls with white trim and medium blue carpeting.  My bridesmaids are wearing long black dresses with sage green sashes and will likely carry a bouquet that incorporates shades of bright pink.

I was planning on ivory striped satin tablecloths with black striped satin napkins, black chiavari chairs with ivory cushions, and my invitation designer is creating menu cards and table number cards on shimmery ivory paper with black writing and sage green swirls.  The favor boxes are black with silver writing, one at each place setting.

I am having a hard time deciding on what colors should be in the centerpieces.  I want them to "pop" since everything else is pretty subdued but I do not just want ivory and green.  I have to meet with the florist again next week, but at our initial meeting over a year ago he suggested some tall and some shorter centerpieces.

Do you think a centerpiece with medium to bright pink flowers (roses) and maybe some green hydrangeas (although may clash with sage green) would work?  Do you think I need ivory in the centerpieces as well to tie everything together?

I have already done an extensive Google search and have not found too many photos similar to my color scheme, and I want to get the "big picture" in mind before I finalize everything.  Any help/advice/photos would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.

  • Since you are having the girls carry pink, I think using pink in your centerpieces would be great.  It sounds lovely. And the pink will make the room pop out from the black and cream.
  • Maybe something like this:

the green hydrangea can be more subdued, not quite sage but still not lime green and you could incorporate some ivory florals or ivory hydrangea and some random pink blooms. HTH :)

I love the colors you're using btw :)
  • I say go with pink and green! You aren't using much green (if any?) in your tables, infact it seems like the only green u are using is the ash for your bms and a little in the menus. So maybe bring the green in there - it'll be pretty.
  • What you've chosen so far sounds beautiful. I'd probably go for flowers in the bright pink with some whites or tans. You could do the hydrangea for green (I don't think that would clash) or you could consider some drapy moss, which would be a great complement to the sage. Personally I don't care for a mix of tall and low centerpieces, but that's just personal taste.
