Two dance floors in one Ballroom

I absolutely love the reception hall my fiance and I visited tonight. However, there is one thing that I have trouble loving....the dance floor. Because we'd be using the entire banquet, we're stuck with 2 dance floors. I have trouble picturing our guests dancing on 2 separate dance floors. It would probably never look full. Has anyone ever been to wedding like this? and if so, did anyone come up with a creative way of making both work?

Re: Two dance floors in one Ballroom

  • Going on pure assumption here, I would say one floor was on each end or thereabout? Make one dancefloor a highlight floor. Put your cake table, guest book, picture table, favor table, late night snack etc there so that the dancing is concentrated near the DJ and the other floor could be for all of those other mingling activities .  If you have a lot of kids, you could put a table down there that had arts/crafts/kids games/candy stuffs on it for the kids to play with and still be in the same room and within sight of their parents.
  • My first thought was similar to terbear, but with a question: Is one dancefloor going to be big enough for the number of your guests? If so, then yeah, do something else with one of the dance floors so your guests aren't split up. Either put something special on it or just put regular tables there, depending on where it is and how it works with the flow of the room. But if one of them isn't big enough, I guess you're stuck with the two if you're definitely using that site.
  • Yeah ditto the others, make one the designated dance floor and have the DJ set up there and then put something else on the other so people don't dance there.  You could set your cake table up there or just put more guest tables.  Ask the venue what other weddings have done in the past, I'm sure they're used to dealing with this question/issue.
