Vendor tips - what is standard?

Hey all - I'm getting married this weekend (and am from out of town), so thought you ladies may be able to help me... what is a standard tip amount for the philly/mainline area?  i know it can vary a lot from place to place, and even from wedding to wedding, but I wasn't sure at all what is appropriate.  we have the DJ, ceremony musicians, officiant, photographer, videographer, venue party planner, and venue/caterer staff.... same amount for all of them?  any help would be much appreciated!

usually a percentage of what you paid is standard, not a flat amount.  you wouldn't tip the flower delivery person and the limo driver the same thing if there were a $1K difference between what you paid, would you? As far as I've ever read, 10-20% is custom.  You should tip those who work for a company, not those who own their own business.  Check your contracts to ensure that gratuities have not already been included.

I don't think a tip amount is based on the geographical location. Like Jess said, it all depends on what you paid. 10%-20% is a good rule of thumb.

I don't know about you but I couldn't afford to tip most of my vendors 20% of the bill - I spoke to someone in the biz who offered some advice and it was a lot lower than that.Lets say your photographer was 3000, for example, I doubt you can afford to give 300 to 600 in a tip.But 50 to 75 a person would def be appreciated by them. You don't have to go into severe debt tipping people to show appreciation. All those tips to all those vendors add up. Before you know it, you will be budgeting hundreds, if not close to a thousand. And you don't have to tip your florist if they are charging a delivery charge in your bill.
