Does this reception timeline make sense?

This if my first time doing an original post so let me introduce myself.  My name is Tene (sounds like Renee) and I am getting married on Saturday, August 13, 2011 in a catholic wedding mass that will be at 2:00pm and last approx. 1 hour.

My plan thus far is to take pictures from 12-1:30, before the ceremony, which will be from 2:00pm-3:00pm, (greet people outside from 3-3:30), Have dinner at 4:00pm, Dancing at 4:40, Cake cutting at 5:40, Continue dancing until 8:00pm, which is when me and my FI will leave for our hotel room (it's in the same place as the reception, which will be at a casino) and allow others to carry on if they wish for a bit longer or go play some slots!

Please let me know if this is a good timeline or should we perhaps shut things down a bit earlier or space it a bit more.  I do not want a gap because the ceremony will be long enough as it is without subjecting people to even more waiting.  Thanks!

    The only things I'm wondering about are;
    What's the travel time inbetween the ceremony & reception (or are they the same venue)?
    I would make dinner an hour.
    & I wouldn't set in stone the time that you're leaving.  You may want/need more time to visit with everyone & enjoy your reception.

    We also had a full Catholic mass. Our wedding was 1pm, we did pics before although my husband and I did not see each other before the ceremony. We did the rest of the formals after the ceremony. Our guests were enjoying a cocktail/appetizer hour at the country club which is where our reception was held.

    Once my husband and WP arrived at the reception, we did more formal pics outside the reception. Dinner was served at 5pm and the dancing and activities started after that.

    Also, there is a Catholic board if you have more Catholic wedding related questions.

    These are all good points.  I guess I need to relax things a bit more and I will also consult with the Catholic board.

    I agree that you should allow a full hour for dinner.  We are doing our cake cutting right after the hour for dinner then moving on to dancing.  I don't like the idea of cutting off the dancing to cut the cake then going back to dancing.  I think logically dessert comes right after dinner, then the party continues after that.  So with that said, I would suggest your dinner from 4:00 to 5:00; cut the cake around 5:00 or 5:15 then dance/party until whatever time it is officially over.
