Reception Decorations.... Help!

I would really appreciate someone's outside advice!!!!
My colors: purple and white
Theme: ??? Upsale Picnic

I am trying to blend the colors purple and white with the idea of an upscale picnic. Our reception hall is a park with an inside area in case it rains. So far we have come up with:
*yard games and blankets outside in the garden area
*inside: white tablecloths, purple runners,

Should centerpiences be formal or fun?

I am unsure of what else to add because I am on a limited budget.

Would it be better to have the outside area like a picnic but then the inside be nice or is it clashing?

what would make it look nice and not cheesy?

Upscale vintage picnic sounds like a turn of the last century garden party.   Big pitchers of lemonade and iced tea.  Add a little black raspberry syrup to change the shade of the lemonade to a purple color.

You should have seating for all your guests.

Centerpieces should be lush flowers in small vases in a row down your purple runner.  Depending on the season, double tulips, iris, peonies, hydrangeas, and spider mums are purple flowers that all would work.  Dark purple stattice in white vases also would be pretty.  The lush flowers are more formal; the simple runners and small vases are more casual, more picnic-like.

I recommend keeping the same level of formality through out.  Otherwise the reception could look disjointed.
  • I think the idea of a bunch of vintage mismatched vases filled with similarly colored flowers in a bunch in the center of your tables and maybe add in some other items like vintage looking books to stack up and set vases on. Or you could use flower pots. Sounds like you are keeping things somewhat in formal for the park theme and I love the idea of lemonade in large pitchers or dispensers with maybe mason jars for glasses? something like this....
