Card Box/Container

I am looking for a unique idea for the cards.  Our reception is being held in a restaurant which will only be open to our guests, so I am questioning if the card container needs to be secure.

Any great ideas?  I am willing to DIY.

Thanks

Re: Card Box/Container

  • I'm making a suitcase out of plywood and covering it over with leather.  I'm going to lightly sand the fabric to give it a worn look and then use clipart from the net and a Xyron sticker maker to make stickers of all the places we've traveled to stick on the outside for decor.  Then in the latch spots, we'll lock it shut so no one can get in it.

  • I am getting a young member of the family to keep an eye on the card box.  I love the luggage idea though...

  • Card Box containers are the least of my troubles....I am stressed!!!!! With every topic!!!!!! My daughter gave me less than three month to put together a wedding that I don't have the money for.

  • Whatever you use, I would make sure its secure. Even if your venue is closed off to outside people because you don't know the serving staff, caterers, bartenders, etc.  Also, what if someone brings a guest with sticky fingers, you never know.
  • I am using an antique bird cage, cards can be slipped through the wire. It will be at a table with an attendant.

Also, in case this interests anyone, my wedding planner suggested to me that after the guests have all come through, we remove the cards from the card box, and number them, then put them in a secure location (a hotel room security box for us). My FMIL suggested to me that after the box has been emptied, to put it back at a table inside the reception for anyone who forgot to give their card as they entered.

[QUOTE]Hey sunshine, Hobby Lobby sells wooden suitcases, which may work for you and save you the trouble! I used an ivory carvable fake pumpkin and just cut a slit in the back. It was wide enough to reach in and get the cards later. PIB under DIY.

Awesome!  Thanks for the rec.  We've been having a hell of a time with FI trying to get the plywood cut straight enough to nail together. :-)  I tried Michael's and AC Moore with no luck.  Looks like I'll have to find a HL.

  • We did a lobster trap since we got married on Martha's Vineyard.

But normally your venue coordinator can be responsible for the card box.
