centerpieces as favors?

this is my first post so here's my question.
i was thinking about giving my centerpieces as favors to our parents and grandparents and candle votives to each guest.i'm thinking about putting our names and wedding date on the bottom of each votive so it wouldn't be obvious if they wanted to use it in their home.
what do ya'll think?

Re: centerpieces as favors?

  • I like the idea.. That way you aren't stuck with a ton of centerpieces and you dont have to buy both centerpieces and favors. Go for it! :)
  • I'm not sure what the point is of adding the expense of putting your names and wedding dates on the bottom of the votives.  Seems pointless to me.  Having said that, I don't mean to put them in a visible place either.  That makes them even more useless.  I just think that I wouldn't go to all the trouble and expense of having them engraved at all.

And for me, I'd probably not even take the votive candle home.  I'm not a big knick-knack type of person and don't need more "stuff" around my house.

Are you having a very small wedding?  Because unless you have a larger than number amount of parents and grandparents, I'm not sure where all your other centerpieces are going?  Two sets of parents, at best 4 sets of g-parents.  That's 6 centerpieces.  How many tables will you have?
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146

Will the candle votives have been lit all night on the table?  Because now you are asking guest to take a glass of hot wax with them, which is dangerous and if they have been drinking, may burn themselves with the hot wax.  Really bad idea IMO.
