Recommend your favorite Jeweler!

Hi Ladies! The BF and I recently went shopping to look at rings. He wants me to pick 5 or so that I like and he would then choose one of those as the engagement ring. Here is our problem: the places like Kay ect. don't really have anything I like. I'm into more vintage settings and unique looking rings. We visited Jewelers row but most stores were closed. Barsky's was open and actually had 2 I really really liked but we want to do more shopping! so what or who would you recommend? PS: we actually live about 20 min north on 95 so if you know of something outside the city don't hesitate to chime in!

We had the same problem. FI and I went to store after store and found nothing that we both liked. He actually found my ring online (jamesallen.com) and showed me and I fell in love with it. We ordered the setting online and bought the diamond in a local jewelry store. This is the link to my ring, if it helps! http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-2806.asp There's lots of online sites that you can look at to get ideas. If you find a style you like, some jewelers will custom make a ring, too!

my FI knew exactly what i wanted and couldn't find it anywhere. so, like pp said, he jumped online to bluenile.com and custom-designed it for me. i've heard some people say their quality is questionable, but i've worn it everyday for almost a year now with no problems at all, and i absolutely love it. and, he got to choose exactly which diamond he wanted, so he knew how good the cut, clarity, color, etc were. however, if you're looking for a physical place to go, i love Charlie at Diesinger & Dolan's. one of my bm's recommended him to me, and i custom ordered my wedding band from him and he did a brilliant job. they're located somewhere in bryn mawr (sorry that's not at all helpful). they have a website though. definitely worth a look!

If you are willing to drive down to Wilmington, check out Minster's Jewelers (the one actually in Wilmington; there is another one in Newark that is a different store).  They do regular jewelry, but are famous for their custom work; if you can't find anything you like, you can be sure and shootin' that they can make you exactly what you want. Also, check our A.R. Morris Jewelers, also in Wilmington.  It's another small family owned jewelry store, and they have tons of selections and suggestions, and can help you find exactly what you are looking for.HTH!

We got my ring at David Jay Jewelers in Warrington and they were awesome to work with.  They do custom designs and also can order anything you want.  I was really interested in a Hearts on Fire wedding band and they ordered it for me so that I could see it in person before deciding.  We worked with Scott and I definitely recommend working with him.

If you live in Chester County, check out Wright Jewelry in West Chester. It's a small, family-owned shop and they are wonderful there. I'm pretty sure they can make something custom for you if that's what you are looking for.

Robbins has been absolutely wonderful with my e-ring and our wedding bands.  There is one on 8th and Walnut on Jewelers Row, and another in Delaware - home of tax free shopping!  We used both and are very happy we did.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll be sure to check out the online route as well as the websites of all the other jewelers! BF heard that Robbin's hands you a beer when you walk in. lol I'm not sure how true it is but He's dying to go because of it.

We went to MJ jewlers, and worked with karen, Michael's wife. I didn't pick out my ring, but when I went back in to make my wedding band, I saw that they had a ton of stuff. They also have two locations. http://www.jewelrybymj.com/

Our rings were all purcahsed from Steven Singer on jewelers row.  It's a very laid back, fun atmosphere (free beer, wine and cookies...mmmm!) and there's eally no pressure, which I felt at some other places.  They have a big selection of settings and bands.  They also do custom work (they are making a custom wedding band for me).  My parents have purchased jewelry at Barsky's for years with no complaints as well.GL!

All of my jewelry was purchased at Barsky's and I couldn't be happier with them! They were amazing to work and have beautiful selections!

FI bought my ring from Jamesallen.com.  I could not be happier--so much cheaper than regular stores, and you can pick your diamond then setting.  Also, no sales tax!If you are still looking, try going to pricescope.com.  They have lots of information on cut, settings, etc., and the forums are helpful in helping you pick out a stone.

i did alot of searching online and in person. my best friend ordered hers online and had the best of luck, but i found for myself, that when i found a ring online that i loved, when i saw it in person i was completely turned off. alot of times rings look nothing like their pictures, so that's just something to keep in mind. my fiance got my ring at hellzberg and i love it. i would definately go back to jewlers row when its open though.

I will 3rd Steven Singers. Its across the street from Robins on Jewelers row. And as far as I know, Robbins does not offer you beer. Steven Singers does though. Personally, I hated Robbins. The selection at SS blew away every other place we went to.

I go to Harry Merril on 8th between Chestnut and Walnut. www.harrymerrill.com They are a 'mom &pop" shop and do fantastic custom work and are do not pushy or just trying to make a sale.  FI HATES to be pressured and so when he went here to look at e-rings, he felt very comfortable.  The service is great too - I get my ring cleaned and inspected at least once a month and there's no charge. We ordered both of the bands from them too and I can't wait to get them!!
