Stage Suggestions

My reception space has a stage. We're not having a band, so I've been trying to think of a way to decorate the stage, in a modern contemporary way.  My planner is considering draping the stage with fabric, but I want to come up with a less expensive alternative. We may put some lounge furniture or some of the dining tables on the floor of the stage, which will take care of that. The primary concern is how to decorate the back of the wall, which is concrete and not very attractive. I've looked through photos of previous events at the venue, and while some are creative and nice, there are not quite the modern look we're going for. Any suggestions?

Re: Stage Suggestions

  • I have heard that some people will use the stage for the wedding party table. Or you could add a bunch of lights up there. Or you could drape some fabric toward the back of the stage and have your monogram lit onto the fabric with the lighting.

  • Perhaps you could rent or borrow some furniture and turn it into a lounge area?

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • The band or DJ could set up there. Or you could put the cake table up there.

  • Ah, just read it again and you're mainly looking at decorating the wall.  Reading comprehension FAIL.

I would do uplighting rather than fabric. It'll be cheaper and looks less like you're trying to hide something.  If you're going to have guests up there, perhaps you could hang some black and white photos in cool frames (Ikea has a great selection).

  • Thanks guys. Those are good suggestions. If you think of anymore, keep them comingLaughing
