A nod to FI's hobby?

My FI flies and builds RC planes for a hobby. He's been doing it with his dad since he was ten, is constantly building and rebuilding planes, and drives an hour to a flying field to hang out with his buddies almost every weekend. He also plans to get his full-scale license after he gets out of school. Needless to say, aviation is a big part of his life.

I'd like to include a nod to his hobby, but I'm out of ideas. I originally wanted to do aviation themed STDs, but the only ones i can find are out of our budget, and I think we're skipping STDs anyway. I also have some "remove before flight" undies for the honeymoon, but I'm looking for something for the reception. I also thought about a groom's cake like this one:




But I was hoping you ladies might have some more original ideas.

Something that doesn't involve his fellow rc pilots hovering planes outside the church doors during our getaway "to see which way he would go". (An actual suggestion/plot posed by a couple of his friends... )

So...ideas?

What if you got 2 planes from the hobby store & put a veil on one & a top hat on the other & used it as a cake topper?  Or have the grooms cake look like an air field with model planes on it?  Or a plane charm on your garter?  A flying song for your first dance? I've got "fly me to the moon' stuck in my head.  Airplane sized bags of popcorn or peanuts or pretzels for favors.

FI is wayyyy into video games, so we're doing a dorky groom's cake!

I like pp's idea of the two planes dressed like bride and groom. what about boutinieres?

Could you ebay balsa wood (r foam ones like little kids play with) airplanes and use them somehow?

Put them together and put your table numbers on them?  Use them on the guest book table, gift table, cake table?

Provide one to each guest as a "favor" but then you might have airplanes flying all over your reception.

Hang them in the doorway or from the ceiling?
