Table numbers & assigned seating...

I really DON'T want to do it since it will be a small reception and EVERYBODY is family. Do I have to? Could you PLEASE give me examples of why I should or shouldn't...THANKS!

  • No more than 60 people. It'll be a tented buffet outdoor/backyard reception.

  • I don't expect 60 to come. I have 50 invites and I'm leaving room for a few "stragglers"...

  • Well if you don't have a seating chart I would at least make sure you have a few extra tables and chairs rather then just enough for each person.  The reason for this is that without a seating chart people don't tend to completly fill a table so many of your tables may end of being half to a third empty.

  • I would so it anyway just to help your guests out; sometimes people do like to know (or be told) where to sit at an event like a wedding.  Instead of wandering around looking for the "best" seat.  You can do it simply too... just write out the table numbers and each persons name on a piece of poster board.  Table numbers can be as simple as writing numbers on carstock.. or get creative on get blank greeting cards and write the numbers and fold the cards inside out.
