La Luna Banquet hall

Hell ladies... I am trying to plan my wedding long distance in Philly from Chicago.  Do any of you know any thing about La Luna in Bensalam?  I looked at the site and it looks nice but can't seem to find anything else about it.  It's hard trying to find somewhere when you are not from the town. Thanks !Kat

I went with a friend to look there because it did look nice on their website.  When we checked it out, it's a very plain building, that is also a dance studio, on a very busy street.  A hallway winds around the larger dance room where little tables go for cocktail hour.  The bar they set up there is also the snack bar for the dance school.  When we saw it, it was hard to imagine it looking like more than a dance school, but it does look better on the website.  I don't know if this was any help, but my friend felt that she wanted someplace prettier.  Sorry I can't tell you more.

I live down the street from it. It does not look like awedding hall on the outside. There are no outdoor photo oppurtunities there, as it backs up to someone's back yard and is next to a wawa and pizza place. I have never been inside though.

I called after looking at the website for my at home brunch and maybe the guy was having a bad day but he was rather nasty and I personally felt like he was very money hungry.JMO

I can imagine planning a wedding from a distance can be a huge challenge. The girls on this board seem to have great ideas and suggestions for all over CC and the burbs. If you have an idea what you are looking for, post it along with a potential budget and I'm sure you'll get some responses!

Wow ok thanks for the info, I am looking at two places over Labor day, Glen Foerd (more just to see what it looks like cuz I think it will be way out of our budget) and The Barn in Collegeville.  After that is back to the drawing board, thankfully we are not looking to get married until Oct 2010 so ther is not a huge rush, but still. Any one have any reasonably priced nice places I need all the help I can get. Thanks =) Kat

Check out The Stone Barn in Kennett Square.  Not only is it GORGEOUS, it's not overly priced either. The other one to check out is Mendenhall Inn.  Not overly pricey, and you get a ton for what you pay.

If you're interested in La Luna, I would probably still go check it out.  I went last summer and it had some very interesting feautures.  It does have a stone patio outside and another smaller courtyard (if I remember correctly off an inside area.  I personally liked how all the tables and cocktail hour were outside of the dance hall (reception space) everything is decorated like a street in Europe.  It definitely has a charm about it, ultimately, it wasn't for me.. but if you're interested, I would still check it out.

I live right by La Luna and it is a typical hall - nothing special IMO. Not a beautiful wedding venue. It is next to a Wawa on a busy street and the other girls are right; you have no where to take pictures. If you are okay with that, are going somewhere else to take pics, then it could be a great fit for you. If you are also looking at Glen Foerd, you couldn't compare the two in any way, shape or form.

Glen Ford and Birchwood are at two opposite ends of the cost and overall appearance spectrum.  I've been to a wedding at Brichwood and some guests sit upstairs - like me - and we missed everything because we couldn't see or hear the toasts, first dance, etc.  Check out Columbia Station in Phoenixville.  Their prices are really reasonable, their food is great, and the former railroad station is beautiful.

madamkati am having my reception at La Luna this December. Yes, there are no ideal scenic photo ops, but there are tons of places nearby to do this. It does have a courtyard, and yes there is a wawa, but from the front of the building the wawa is not in site, and there is plenty of parking for your guests. What really drew me to this site was the interior because it is different, it's not a "ballroom" but it's neat and it's intimate. It is mediterreanean inspired, and we really liked it. There are really romantic paintings, the coloring is warm, and the chairs are really nice (not covered, but wrought iron). The bathroom is marble too. Its beautiful. but most of all, the food is incredible. The chef owns a restaurant in Roxborough, and the quality is just amazing. We went to two tastings, and we frequent the restaurant a few times a year. The owner of La Luna can be a tad pushy, but he has been really flexible with us, letting us personalize our package and even take stuff out that we didnt need. Also, it's a more affordable site than alot of the others mentioned. I wouldnt say its cheap, its just affordable. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. hope that helps!

Amen decbride09. I agree, La Luna is where I am getting married also, and I checked out about 20 site locations.  I liked the price, location, atmosphere, I've upgraded mostly everything, so I'm really having the wedding that I wanted. 2 of my friends also recently got married here and loved it.
