guest book at a second reception?

Because most of his family is unable to travel cross-country for our wedding, we are having a second reception in my fiance's hometown the following weekend. Should we take the guest book with us so that our guests at Reception 2.0 can sign it? Or would it be too much like B-listing them? The (actual) wedding date is printed on the front, and plenty of people will hopefully already have signed, so...

What do you think?

Re: guest book at a second reception?

  • Go for the guest book at both receptions, They are both parties in celebration of your recent nuptials.  One party just happens to be on the same day as the ceremony.  Does your guest book have removable pages?  I would take the used pages out for the new party & then put them back in.  All though a wish jar sounds simpler.
  • just bouncing ideas here, but what about a picture frame at the second one?  Your friends and family could sign it, and you now have something that you can hang in your house.  We are not doing a guest book because we don't really see the point of doing it and throwing it into a drawer.  we are doing a special picture frame from http://www.idoengravables.com/ for the wedding...and I hadn't thought about our after party...I am now thinking we might want to get a platter for them to sign.  I doubt we have the budget for both, but it would be cool...the platter is something we could use through our marriage.
Anyway, if you are set on the book, maybe do the book for the wedding, and put a nice wedding pic in the frame for the reception.  ask friends and family to sign the mat, and now you have decor for your home.  good luck!
