Red Chairs.... Colors are Pink & Green.. chair covers?

I know this may seem like an obvious choice... but I really don't want to spend 500 dollars on chair covers!!!! When we probably aren't even having a honeymoon!! I have looked into renting just chairs as well but the location we are doing it won't allow it. I have been told guests don't care about what anything looks like, just as long as they have food, drinks, and are comfy. But really.... red chairs with pink and green everywhere.....So what the heck do I do???

Re: Red Chairs.... Colors are Pink & Green.. chair covers?

  • I have the same problem, except chairs are green and colors are bright pink, rose pink and opal gray. Since our venue has adjustable lighting we're going back to do a "reception room dress rehearsal" to see if we can camoflague the chair color with very little/no light and see how that works. That's a trick you can try or you can DIY chair dressing (not cover) to help take a way some of the red. I have a friend who didn't like the backs of her chairs & she simply wrapped them in ribbon. Those are the only options I can help you with. Good luck
  • I wouldn't spend 500 dollars on chair covers (that's just me).  Red is actually pretty with green and pink; it's not like the chairs are bright blue or something.
  • No one will notice the chair or notice that the color of them is red and that it doesn't go with your color scheme. save the difference and maybe have a nice weekend at a bed and breakfast with your new DH!
  • You're overthinking this.  But it's not really your fault.  Wedding magazines and websites and tv shows do a great job of convincing brides and grooms that things like the chairs matching the BM dresses is critical to the success of their weddings.  And it's just not.

Is there EVER any occasion where it matters if the attire of honored guests matches the chairs (or the curtains or wall color?)  Think of the last 6 weddings you've attended.  Do you remember what color the chairs were?  Probably not.

I've been MOG and MOB in the last 5 years.  I have NO idea, none, what color the chairs were at my own children's weddings.

A final thought:  once the reception starts, those chairs will covered by the people sitting in them, the suit jackets draped over them, the wraps that are resting on them.  You won't even really see them.

If people leave your wedding commenting on the color of the chairs, then I think there were bigger problems with the party.

Let this go, and enjoy your planning!  And good luck to you.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • For a large part of the reception, the chairs will be in use by people having dinner. Few people will see the chairs.
