Ive seen people making lables for water botles to have at the wedding.
What are they for?
Where do you put them?

Re: what are the waterbottles for?

  • I've also seen them put out in a bucket for an outdoor ceremony on a hot day.
  • Everytime I see them, ppl never use them for drinking. They are often so nicely packaged ppl tend to save them as keepsakes. Kind of defeating the purpose.
  • We had an outdoor ceremony in August so we had a galvanized bucket full of ice and water bottles at the doors just before the guests went outside to their seats.  I didn't waste my time or money on personalized labels though.

  • We had personalized water bottles and I saw people drinking from them even the day after the wedding.  The were put out during the reception by the bars.  We actually had a lot of personalized stuff, however, so they were the next logical step.

If your budget allows, I'd definitely recommend the OOT bags.  Ours were quite elaborate and people still mention them...  We went to another DW last month where the couple didn't do OOT bags and my DH was like "where's my welcome basket?"

It's just a really nice touch if you can afford it.  Pics in bio under the favors tab.
  • My DD was married in an outdoor ceremony in July.  She had water bottles for the guests when they arrived.  But like Danielza she couldn't imagine why the labels on something that people would drink from and then toss needed to be "personalized".  Just seemed unneccessary.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • We had ours out in buckets for an outdoor ceremony, moved the extra inside to the bar during the reception and even had some leftover for the next day's brunch.
They're not really that expensive - it was like 10 bucks for the labels plus however much for the water bottles.

It was definitely work the time and effort and people really appreciated that we realized 1. it gets hot outside and 2. some people like a bottle of water. If you can swing it, I would highly recommend.
  • We got married in an area that was rural and there were not many places to get snacks without driving a distance so we did OOT bags with a few snacks (healthy and sweets) and put a bottle of water or two in each bag.  We did not personalize them.  The OOT bags were only done for guests who had traveled to stay over.  Everyone loved them (after all, who doesn't love free stuff).  They only cost us about $5 per bag which is definitely and expense we could have done without.  But I felt like we had money for it in the budget and it would be a nice touch.

When I'm traveling and there are free water bottles in the hotel room, I am very appreciative.

At the ceremony, they're used to hydrate people in extreme temperatures. At the reception, they are great for quenching your thirst after dancing. The last wedding I attended had a huge bucket of ice with water bottles tucked inside to get cold set up on a table between the buffet table and the dance floor that weren't touched at all until after dancing started and most people worked up such a sweat from dancing that they needed that water to keep from getting dehydrated.

I've never once seen bags or baskets for out of the area guests so I can't comment on that aspect.
