Place Card Holder Ideas for Nautical Wedding

Hello!

In 38 days I will be getting married and having my reception on board a large yacht.

I have been incorporating a  nautical theme without being obnoxious, but I'm stuck as to the placecard holders.

The placecards are small and feature a small anchor. I would like to have them held by something unique and fitting with the theme, but something I can do myself, since most holders aren't really something I want to spend $100+ on.

Any ideas? They will be on a simple table with ivory linens. I'm stuck, please help!!

Re: Place Card Holder Ideas for Nautical Wedding

  • What if you just decorated the table with nautical items, like a sailboat and buoys...see pics for ideas

Make a some bunting out of nautical flags to drap over the front of your table (see garland in picture)...

Buy a life ring and paint you and your FI name and wedding date on it...

  • Hi,

Those are beautiful ideas, thanks. I may put some buoys on the table, since the centerpieces are galvinized buckets with flowers and the table runners are navy and it won't be overkill.
  • I see you live in Boston.  Not sure if you might have luck looking on the North Shore, but I know if you were willing to drive up to Maine for a day and look in antique shops, you could find lots of old buoys and other decorations like that.

For the placeholders, you could look into making some knots out of line and using those to prop up the cards, something like: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bxNgmcn6iaw/T1-aYHSHMBI/AAAAAAAAAeI/B1wDq7W1pSo/s1600/PartyCapeCod__257.jpg
    or
I am sure you could find them on Etsy, too, if you did not want to make them, although much cheaper to DIY.
  • What about getting some small styrafoam balls, cutting of the bottom so they lay flat on the table and then spray painting them to look like buoys in the water. When they dry take a sharpie and write numbers on them like D023 (seen something like that on the buoys on Deadliest Catch they are all numbered lol), once thats finished, stick your place cards in them and walla you have holders for your place cards.

Or you can real creative get the styrafoam as blocks and use the modge podge and dip them in that glitter stuff and make them look like water (seen it on Craft Wars)

    Just a couple of ideas...
