Use for LED Submersible lights?

Hi, I purchased a bunch of these LED submersible lights to go in my centerpieces.  I am using black river rocks so i'm afraid the rocks will be too dark and heavy that you won't be able to see the lights underneath.  Can anyone think of other cool ways I could use these lights??

  • Could you use clear rocks instead (like the squished-marble looking ones you can get at Michael's)?

  • Yeah I guess i could, I didn't know if it would look alright if the light was on top of the rocks.
  • I was going to recommend what both PP mentioned.  You could put the rocks around it but not covering it...if that makes sense.  I would just experiment.

I am having the same problem deciding what to do with my centerpieces. I have a Hawaiian themed wedding, which will begin in the evening and like the natural look of the black river rock in my 20" tall centerpieces. I plan on putting one long strand of orchid in the centerpiece, but wanted to light my centerpiece with a LED light. I have been reading up on LED lights with black rocks and from what I can tell people using them with the black rocks keep the fake wick of the light exposed, but I think this looks extremely tacky. My mother, who used to be a designer suggested putting a single layer of clear rocks over the top of black rocks to hide the LED light but I am not sure how this will look since clear and plastic-looking is not the look I was going for. I will experiement with this idea or I am also thinking about a layer of beach glass over black rock with a LED light. There is a great website for ordering crafts called, "Save on Crafts" for LED lights, and glass, etc. Hope this helps, and I am also curious as to what others think of these ideas?

Thanks, Heather (getting married August 4th)
