Colored tableclothes

Anyone doing colored table clothes? Our caterer said he could order any color I wanted. I haven't looked at the swatches yet.
My color pallete is plum, bright green, and orange with accents of slate grey. I'm hoping to have the maids in grey dresses.
So for the tableclothes: Plum or orange?

Re: Colored tableclothes

  • I would do plum linens and use the green and orange in the centerpieces.

I'm not a big fan of bright linens.  It looks strange to me, but that's personal preference.  Look at people's bios to get an idea of how it will work.  We used navy for ours.
  • We layered our tablecloths, which looked pretty cool in my opinion. You can do grey as a base to tie them all in and then alternate between tables on the top and then do the opposite in napkins.

You don't really have to stress about gettin ALL your colors on the tables.  Guests won't really notice all the subtleties, only the most obvious colors.  And on your wedding day, your mind will be on a zillion other things besides the accent colors on tables.

I'd use the darker or most neutral color for the tablecloths, like the plum (or eggplant/aubergine), or the gray.  Then use the lighter/accent colors in the other table colors, like in the centerpieces, or for napkins, table runners, overlays, colored candles ...

If you are using floral centerpieces, you might stick to mostly plum/purple or orange flowers.  For the gray color, you might could substiture a metallic or silver tone, like for plate chargers or centerpiece containers.  Or one charger or "silver" tray under a centerpiece might be cheaper than renting table runners or overlays.

  • My colors are navy, brown and white and we are doing both navy and brown table clothes scattered and our centerpieces are white Smile
