color confusion

So I am having a beach themed wedding. The ceremony will be outside overlooking the bay and the reception will be inside in the underwater dolphin room. 

The colors are blue and white and purple. However, I'm not sure if the purple matches in with the sand/shells. Also, the only purple would be in the flowers and bridesmaids dresses.  My finance wants to ditch the purple, but I'm worried that it'll be overly blue because almost everything else is blue (the dolphin water, table numbers, message in a bottle guest book, and if no purple then the flowers and wedding party attire).

I would ditch the purple and add a more neutral or versatile color, like sand or silver.

I think the purple will be a gorgeous touch.   Purple and blue go great together and the sand color is neutral so it won't be too busy!

Up here in New England, there are a number of purple shells on every beach.  Periwinkles, mollucks, quahogs etc.  I believe that some of these species live up and down the Atlantic coast. 

Purples fit your theme.

Keep the purple. It will really pop against the blue

I agree, keep the purple. I have blue and white for my colors and have some yellow just as an accent (some in the bridesmaids' flowers, etc.) and I think it really helps liven things up. I think pops of purple would do the same thing.
