Wedding Color Help

I really want my bridesmaids to wear a midnight blue colored dress (I wore this color gown to my engagement party and loved it) but I'm having trouble with an accent color. Anyone have suggestions? My wedding is in the fall. I don't like pairing blue with orange or yellow and my fiance outlawed pink!
I'm also torn because the castle I'm getting married in has a lot of red accents (red aisle runner, red walls, etc.) I think blue and red clash a bit. Should I nix blue all together and go with purple and red? I want each BM to wear a shoe in the color accent (same color as bouquet).

Re: Wedding Color Help

  • Almost any color(s) go with midnight blue.

My first thought for a fall wedding, is to use a mix of jewel tones.  Deep ruby red, emerald green, amythest purple, topaz gold, etc..

Or you can do a fall colors with only a very minimal amount of burnt orange and yellow/gold, and have mostly deep red, rust, coral, deep purple, and a touch of antique lavender.

You could go simple and only use one accent color (and white or ivory).  Like lime green, aqua, turquoise, light blue, lavender, purple, rust, or red.
  • What about a brown, or maybe gold?  If this is just for the BMs shoes, it's best just to choose a neutral anyway: black, silver, gold, bronze, tan...  Those are all easy, rewearable colors for shoes, and would all (well, maybe not black) look good with dark blue.  What else are you planning on using the accent color for?
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • My BM dresses are Navy blue. I am pairing it with a soft yellow and soft green (almost pastel but not quite). Of course I am getting married in April so the spring\eastery colors make sense for us. I LOVE these colors together. dark blue, lime green, and a very bright, almost red, pink might work well...but it depends on how deep the red is in your venue. I personally...WOULD NOT pair dark blue and red....unless you want to add some white and change your date to July 4!!!!!
  • Haha def no red white and blue for me. Your soft yellow combo sounds very nice for spring but I'm worried it won't work for the fall...especially in a gothic castle.
As for the shoes, I actually did want a color... for instance if it were up to me I would do dark blue dresses paired with fuchsia-ish colored shoes!
I was thinking Dark blue, Purple and Gold... love the jewel colors; great suggestion!

    Thanks
