Opinions Wanted- Blue Uplighting

Hi All,My ceremony colors are white, red & black. I LOVE my BMs in red and wouldn't give up the color for anything. I want my reception to be a "Winter Wonderland". Originally my ceremony colors were going to roll into my reception but once I saw this pic I knew I had to do it: So...my question is...if I do blue uplighting, which the snowflakes projected on the floor and have the Christmas trees could I still do red rose centerpieces? Do you think it is also okay to do white chair covers with a red satin bow?? I think a splash of red might be nice but I also don't want it to look like the 4th of July. Thanks!

Honestly, I would stick with white centerpieces and blue bows on the chairs.  I love the lighting!

I had a red/white/black wedding too!  And I too wanted the bridesmaids in red!  =) So, I personally love red/white/blue together.  My Mom wore sapphire blue and we posed for pics outside of the Betsy Ross house in front of the colonial flags.  I didn't use blue anywhere in my decor for fear of 4th of July, but being that the whole shebang took place in Old City, it felt very festive for the end of May right after Memorial Day. With that said, I don't think it would work for winter.  I love the blue uplighting, but why don't you stick with white uplighting for the "cool/winter" feel.  Or a glowing yellow, like the Christmas lights in this photo.  I think it will still feel like a winter wonderland if you swap out the blue for the white/yellow light in my opinion.

Hope that made sense -- red/white/blue I think would just compete for each other in terms of decor colors.  I would stick with the red/white/black and think about changing the uplighting. JMO.

I think you could do a really pale blue (think a cool blue) and it wouldn't look too I Love America.  I have seen red lighting and I think that looks REALLY awesome, so maybe you could look into that.

PS - hey DBean - if you are getting married around Xmas, I went to a wedding YEARS ago where the bride made a HUGE homemade gingerbread house (I think she cheated and used cardboard) and used that as her envelope gift box.  It was SO beautiful and a really cool idea.  She also hung her "placecards" as ornaments on a Xmas tree.  Maybe you can invest in some beautiful ornaments and have someone paint names on them!

Thanks for the ideas!  Our favors are ornaments and I am not investing in anymore of them :) but I will definitely consider the gingerbread house!
