Favors?

Ok, so I'm going to "make" some in expensive favors, or at least sort of create my own with some materials.

I was originally going to get little candy jars, and fill with jelly beans or M&Ms. These: http://www.nicepricefavors.com/p-6701ST.htm

While I was browsing the jars, I found these: http://www.nicepricefavors.com/p-8348.htm

(Sorry, idk how to link). So I thought I'd buy those, and they come with the box and ribbon...then I;d get some nice paper and print up an easy sugar cookie recipe on them. On the BACK of the recipe card, I'd write the guest's name and what table they'll be at, so it'll be both my place card and favor in one!

Well I emailed it to FI to show him...and he doesn't think they're manly enough, but has no suggestions on what else to do.

I thought these were so cute b/c they're hearts, and we're in love obviously, and because we (especially me) like to bake! And the love recipe would be cute, and I'd make them really cute...so now I'm bummed.

Thoughts?

  • Links happen automatically now.

How about something like this?  http://www.bakerella.com/mix-things-up/ She girlified the recipe, but you could de-girlify it by just replacing the M&Ms with more chocolate chips.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Well his problem with mine was that he thought the cookie cutter was too girly, and if it were him as a guest at the wedding, he doesn't care, and would have nothing to do with a cookie cutter.

  • Well honestly, guests probably aren't going to care too much about anything that isn't edible.  I bake a lot, but I wouldn't have much use for a heart-shaped cookie cutter, especially one that looks that flimsy.

  • Yeah...I was sort of worried about that. I was going to maybe order just one, to see if it was flimsy and crappy, because it doesn't look very sturdy.

  • You run that risk with any favor, though. Personally, I usually forget to take them. They could be reall cute, but after a few beers, they aren't the first thing on my mind.

  • I think the cookie cutter would be better suited as a favor at your bridal shower.
  • We are doing a candy bar and having everyone fill their own favors. Our colors are red and blue (Superman colors) and we are going to have m&m's, almonds, lindor truffles, red hots etc in our colors and have small bags or tins for people to get what they like.

Oh, also having the personalized miniature candy bars with our monogram. Not too expensive, fun and people get to eat.
