Help any one who lives in DC/MD area

The wedding is less then a month away. We need help finding a reasonable hall. We had the hall from the church and the pastor assistant only told us that we need the have 150 a week before the event..but god 4give me but this B@$#h let someone take it. she did not give us a call to say you guys some one else is interested in the hall, or her being a christian women and doing the right the should have told them ppl no the hall is not available due to a married couple using this space. So please any one Help. We tried the rec down the street from our house and they are booked. we even called upscale bllrm, they talking about they dont accomidate receptions. so please any one knows a place we can use for 4hrs 100ppl, and if the budget could stay $500 or less... please and thank you!!!!

Try universities!  I'm on the Virginia side of the river, but both GMU and NVCC have inexpensive, large reception spaces.  It's just space, though; you'd have to have a caterer who could bring in food, linens, china, etc.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but seriously, don't ever assume you have a vendor booked unless you have a signed contract.

ETA: And try posting this on the DC local board, too; you might get more responses.
  • What about renting a pavillion at one of the public parks?  Some of them even allow alcohol, and rental while most have a rental fee, it is typically under $300

What about using a large room at a restaurant?

Have you looked at other churches in the area?

I agree post on the DC local board, some on there will have some better ideas.  Wish I could help more, but I'm a DC local planning my wedding in Pittsburgh.
