wedding thank you notes

1. How long do we have to write them out? 2. I did not order them with my invites but do want to get nice ones. Any place that you'd suggest I could order them from but not too expensive? Thank you!

Old school etiquette is a year. Although when I don't receive a thank you after a month or so, I think it seems like a long time! I have been receiving gifts all along and needed some nice thank yous. I went to a stationary store in CC and bought white cards with a silver lining. I then punched two holes at the top and pulled silver ribbon through the holes. Very classy and not that expensive! I've seen pretty stationary at Target and ACMoore.

    1. Hopefully a while.  Colin and I talked about including a small wallet photo with each note, but we're still waiting for our pro pics to come in so we can get on ordering those!  As a result, we're more than a month out from the wedding and haven't even started thank-yous yet.  For the record, I got a thank-you from kagkiki more than two months after her wedding and I didn't care ;) 2. DEFINITELY contact Alaun by Design - www.alaunbydesign.com. All her invitation packages came with thank-you notes, which were personalized with our names and are just lovely.  Her prices on invitations were phenomenal.  I'm sure she can make thank-you notes for a great price for you that you'll like a lot, assuming that you don't want fancy stuff with a photo that your photographer would make for you. If you wanted to do something like that, I'm sure you could do something through Shutterfly or Snapfish.

I just reread my post. Another typo on my part...I meant to type...if I don't receive a thank you after three months (not a month)..... I've mistyped so many things tonight, maybe I need a drink to straighten myself out!

I am out of the norm, but I got all mine out within a month and we had around 225 people show up.  I did just get one last week from a wedding we went to in May, which I found acceptable. If I didn't get one until almost a year later, I would be like wtf.I would check out Target, Michaels, etc.

I thought etiquette stated you needed to get them out within 2 months of your wedding.  I had ours done right on that mark. We actually got our pics from our photog within a month, and I had photo thank yous made with a pic of us holding the thank you sign I bought. Everyone loved them! perhaps try Etsy as well

I sent mine out at around the 3 month mark.  I'm sure some family members were secretly hating on me, but I really didn't care.  I waited for all my pro pics to come back and I ordered photo TY cards from my photographer.  I think you can do this cheaply on sites like vistaprint.com and kodak.com.  GL - this WR chore will make you scream.
