too many colors?

So I've seen advice that you should stick to one or maybe two colors, but I'm having a difficult time deciding what they should be.  I really want just a bunch of bright colors in my flowers and sprinkled throughout the reception decor.  If I keep the bridesmaid dresses to a single color (perhaps even a neutral one to balance), is it ok not to have a specific "wedding color"?

Re: too many colors?

  • I think that as long as you keep the colors in the same tone, like jewel colored tones or pastel tones or neon tones, whatever you decide, it will look wonderful.  Some brides have their bridesmaids werar the same dress, but each one in a different color.  Or they use the same flowers for all of the centerpieces, but have a different color at each table.  You def dont need to have a 'specific' wedding color.

I am doing rainbow colors for my wedding.  I say, don't follow the rules.  Most likely, you can find a person that will disagree with anything you think of.  So do what you and your FI want.

  • Yes, that's fine.  We started with shades of blue, then we added pops of bright green into the centerpieces, then I decided I wanted some purple in my bouquet, my mom wanted pink in her bouquet, etc.  It still looked quite nice.

I think that sounds nice.  I've seen weddings where they use a lot of white, and then have many different colors as accents.  You don't have to stick with one or two colors.  I've read that you should think about decorating a wedding like decorating a room in a house.  Many beautiful rooms are decorated with several colors.  Good luck!
