centerpiece ideas for a fall wedding????

I am having a fall wedding and have been racking my brain to come up with centerpieces. I have a very limited budget. We want to use "fall" type decor, such as mini pumpkins, gourds, leaves, etc.

So here are my ideas so far...let me know what you think? And please let me know of any other ideas as I am lost!

- Have a fabric (my FSIL will make these) placemat type thing in the center of the table. Put a potted mum in the center with fall leaves scattered throughout the table and votive candles. Also, just put a couple mini pumpkins and gourds around.

- Same fabric in the center. Add a mini bale of straw in the center (they sell these at Hobby Lobby) and create a mini fall display with pumpkins, gourds, and leaves on and around the mini bale of hay/straw. Surrond with votive candles.

I want to have lots of candle lighting in the reception so I know I want them on the table.

Does anyone have any other ideas for cute fall centerpieces that won't cost a fortune? Any suggestions on the ones I already mentioned?

THANKS SO MUCH LADIES!

I like your idea of the mini straw bale--sounds cute!

I have seen quite a few pics of a bundle of wheat tied together with a ribbon in your color. The bundle stands upright alone, without a vase. I know there are directions on the Martha Stewart website for those. They sell the wheat at craft stores but I don't know if you can buy some like at a farmers market or something like that at a cheaper price?

I decided to do vased arrangements of dried grasses for our fall wedding. They sell grasses at the craft stores as well, but I have collected mine so they're free! I will surround the vases with votives and possibly pinecones or acorns.
    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the advice!

I just found out that I can get a great deal on vases from a friend who just had her daughters wedding. She said she has 75 vases from Crate and Barrel in 3 different sizes that they used for centerpieces. She is going to sell me all of them for $50! I feel like I should do it for sure because that would be a great deal and it would be more than enough for all the tables.

So what could I do with them? Is there a way I can use them but still keep my pumpkins, gourds, etc?
    Ideas?

You could use pumpkins and gourds as escort cards. maybe tie a ribbon around the stems holding a tag with the person's name on it. That they all of the guests would take them back to the tables and they would be an added decoration.

We aren't doing escort cards or assigned seating for our wedding though.

What if you do 3 vases per table of the 3 different sizes. Since you want candles you could float a candle (or a few depending on the size of the vase) in each one and then surround them with the pumpkins and gourds on the table. Or you could put leaves in the water and then float a candle. Or, depending on the size/shape of the vases you might be able to fill them with some of your fall items and display them that way. It's hard to know what will look good without seeing the vases.
Check the photos of fall weddings on the website--that's how I got alot of my ideas!
    Good lucki!

Go to the ikea website and search "lanterns."  I'm using these GORGEOUS and VERY INEXPENSIVE (8.99) lanters for my centerpieces.  You do something as simple as put a couple candles and "fallish" things in them (think cinnamon sticks, small gords, cranberries, even pretty fall leaves).  My mom did mine for about $12/ centerpiece and they look very classy and still in a warm cozy fall theme.
