Videographer?

Did you have a videographer?  Would you suggest it?

Re: Videographer?

  • I personally wouldn't pay the extortionate rates they charge, but I recently filmed a friend's wedding with my HD camcorder and created a wedding video in Final cut for them, it was really cute.

It's something that could be DIY'd fairly easily with the right tools and a little bit of know how, i'd ask friends/family first before I considered spending a few hundred dollars on a video you might watch once or twice.

  • We're having one because one of my good friends does it professionally and is cutting us a good deal.  If we hadn't had her, I don't know.

If cost is an issue, you can see about finding someone to just give you the raw footage.  The vast bulk of the videographer's time, energy, and expense is in post-production, so if you cut out that step, it usually saves a significant percentage.  You can always go back and have it edited later.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I orignally didn't want one, but my dh did...we compromised and only got one for the ceremony.  We just received the video a few days ago and i **LOVE** it! My only regret is that we didn't have him stay for the reception.  Of course we have some video from family of the speaches, and our first dance, but it can't compare to a professional.  It would've been nice to have all of the special moments on one central, nicely edited, DVD.

  • I am just going to ask a son of a friend to tape the ceremony and the special dances at the reception. If anyone else feels like videotaping after that, they can have free rein with it. I don't want to pay a professional because I don't care about editing, etc. but I want it to be recorded!

  • We added a videographer kind of last minute (just a few months out) and I'm SO glad we did. Our video captured so many moments that we missed that day and it's so great to have everyone in action on film.
  • I'm having a very affordable photographer who is just giving me a raw footage DVD for only $300!  I want as many moments captured as possible since I know the day will go by so fast.
