Moshulu Reviews? HELP

Hi, I'm new to the board :) We are thinking of changing our reception venue to the Moshulu. Me and my fiance love the uniqueness and atmosphere on the boat. Has anyone tried the food there or been to a wedding there? We have to make our decision this Monday, so I'm stressed right now! Any help would be sooo appreciated ......

I went to a small dinner wedding there in the captain's/chef's quarters.  It was beautiful, and the food was amazing.  I prefer receptions with dancing and what not, and still had a great time.

I'm having my reception there next June and we're really happy about it! The food is amazing; I would suggest going there for dinner and ordering something similar to what you would serve at your wedding. Unlike many reception locations (such as hotels) there is no "event kitchen". The normal chef prepares the food and it should be the same standard for your wedding. We went there last Sunday for brunch- unbelievable! It was a really good deal too- $35/ person for unlimited champagne cocktails, buffet (which is very elegantly done) and a dessert buffet. The dessert buffet was nice to see because we are going to have the same chocolate fountain. Let me know if you have any question, and....don't stress out (ha, easy to say). Good Luck!

Also- we aren't having a very small wedding, 150, so I guess that is maybe average. We are definitely having dancing, there is enough room in the Orchid room if you prefer it inside (although I'm not sure why you would with the outdoor space) and if the weather is nice, dancing will be on deck under the stars. If the weather doesn't cooperate, there are covered areas that are still on deck and quite large, so you will still have the outdoor views. The day we first visited the ship it was pretty much torrential downpours and it was dry under the covered outdoor areas, so you would still be ok.

I went there for my B-day dinner a year and a half ago and the food was good.  I thought the portions were on the small side though.  If you are considering booking there you should def try the food first.

FI worked there as the bartender for a year or so, so he's done a lot of weddings/eaten the food there. I'll get a review from him tonight and report back!

So I am going to review it a little different. I went there for dinnner and I think the food was ok - overpriced for the quality. Mind you, the food was still good but there are other places in the city I would rather go eat than there. However, for a wedding venue, I think the boat would be very unique.

Thanks so much for all the reviews! They are very helpful:)  My fiance has eaten on the Moshulu, but also said the portions were small. However, he always eats alot of food:) Mrs.Simpson would you mind sharing what you are choosing for your entree selections? I think we will be headed there on Sunday for brunch!
