GRRRrrraaaaaaahhhhh! Rant

This is more a rant than anything, and maybe one of you has that word or wisdom i am looking for.

We had booked a venue for our reception (my best friend is one of the chefs there). Great restaurant, really modern looking and trendy. Got a pretty good deal on the food... but the best part was that it was all inclusive. That included the venue, table settings, sound equipment, etc. We booked this 3 months ago...


Find out yesterday that they are selling the restaurant, it's been in financial hardship for awhile now. So they knew about this.... but didn't bother to let us know and still said they would do our wedding.

Now i am back to square one, with 3 months less time.

Does selling the restaurant mean they won't do your wedding now?  Unless they specifically canceled your wedding, I wouldn' t just assume that.  I'm sure the new owners will still want the business.

I agree be careful and make sure you find out what "closing" for them really means. You don't want to assume and then be on the hook for two!

They might want the business.... but it's all so wishy washy... i want something booked a little more solidly i think.

I am calling one of the current board directors this aft to chat. we'll see what he says

That sucks.  I had pretty much the same thing happen to me.  My wedding's in my hometown 3 hours away so I booked early with a restraunt that did everything, about 4 1/2 months later my grandma calls and tells me that the restraunt closed.  They never called I had to call them to find out they weren't going to do my wedding.  It really sucks but hang in there everything will work out.  I like our second site better than the first.
