Start and end time????

What is normal for the start and end time of the reception??? We have the hall for 6 hours and we were thinking of having the ceremony at either 2pm or 4pm and then the reception at either 4pm or 6pm with pictures in between (groom is really adamant about not seeing me until I walk down the aisle) we don't want to feel rushed that's why we really want to have the ceremony at 4 and start reception at 6 but that means it would end at midnight I don't know if that's too late or not??? HELPPPPP!

Re: Start and end time????

  • I would say 4pm.  I don't think 12am is  too late, especially for a Saturday night wedding.  And just because you have it for 6 hours, doesn't mean you have to use it for 6 hours.  If you want it the reception at 6, then end it at 10 or 11.

  • I am working on this as we speak!

So far this is the timeline:

    4:30-5:00 ceremony
people start wandering up to reception site (walking distance)
    5:30pm-6:30pm apps hour
    6:30pm dinner
ends around 10pm since music has to stop
  • If you aren't seeing each other before the ceremony you MUST take into account the sunset time. Are you getting married in Ohio? Your wedding date says it's November 10th. The sun will set in Cincinatti on November 10th 2012 at 5:28 pm. So you need to plan to have all of your photos done by that time unless you intend to do your photos indoors. So assuming you'd like to do your photos outdoors with a 4 pm ceremony (again assuming it's half an hour long) you would JUST fit an hour of photos in by 5:30 if your ceremony starts on time. Many start 10 mins past the "start" time. And the sunset time that these sites calculate is for a flat horizon line. I think it would be safer to have a ceremony start time a bit earlier if possible JIC.
