im getting ready to start planning a little further into my wedding and then it hit me... i have no idea what im doing!! Please help me!! I need to know everything that goes on at a reception down to the favors and the fun stuff. Thanks!!

Well, I would recommend you use the Knot Checklist (up top right) to help you know what you should be planning and when.

Basically, you need your reception venue.  If it comes with a caterer, that's great.  If not, you'll need to find one.  You'll need to make sure the venue provides tablecloths and napkins for the tables, and if they don't, then find out what other people usually do at that venue.  You'll need a baker to make your wedding cake.  You'll need a DJ if you plan to have dancing.  You'll need a bar and bartenders if you plan to serve alcohol, although most venues provide that.  Favors aren't required, but if you have room in the budget, you can do them.  Pretty much everything else is just extras.  All you really have to have are food and drinks.
