First dance to an up beat song?

My FI and I are thinking about changing our first dance song. Our song is Lifehouse's, "Everything." But FI doesn't know if he wants to use that song for our first dance. Our wedding is Aug. 28th and one of my favorite summer songs is "Something Coming Over" by O.A.R. However, I think it is a little to fast paced. Is anyone else doing an up beat song?  Or have feedback?

TIA

Re: First dance to an up beat song?

  • It is a pretty fast song.  However, if you were to take dance lessons, they could teach you how to dance to a song like that.  You might be able to do a particular dance to it, for example: hustle, foxtrot.  I dont know my dances and which ones go with which songs, but it was just thought.

No matter what, you should dance to the song that you select together, even if it is too fast and you cant keep.  Wink
  • There is no rule that says a first dance has to be a slow song, so I say GO FOR IT!
Some Suggestions:  Dancing lessons would be best, but if its not in the budget, turn to your elders.  See if there is anyone in your family or close family friend (who may be a bit older Wink) that may know different dances that they can teach you.  When my parents were younger they went dancing all the time, and not the way that we go to the club and dance, they did actually dances i.e. foxtrot, the hustle, etc..  Also the internet is a great tool.  You can look at videos of how to do different dances right online.  I hope this helps and I am sure no matter what kind of dance you do, you will love every minute!
