Guest book - where does it go?

Not sure if this is the correct board for this question but - where does the guest book go?  Is it displayed at the ceremony or reception?  Do we put it on it's own table, or near the gift table, or where??  I have no idea!!!  Our wedding is small, 60 ppl max, so I wouldn't have even gotten one but I had a free coupon.  But I don't know what to do with it!
Thanks ladies!

Re: Guest book - where does it go?

  • Usually, it's at the reception near the escort cards.  As people pick up their card, they sign the book.  If you're doing open seating for your reception, I don't see anything wrong with setting it up at the gift table.  However, your more likely to get people to sign as they walk into the reception as opposed to a ways away.  And you certainly don't want your gift table near the exits.  It makes it too easy for those with sticky fingers to run off with some of your loot.

  • We had it on our gift table at the ceremony, and then on the table with the escort cards (which also turned into the gift table) at our reception.  Our wedding was at an inn, and there was an on-site coordinator, and she basically took care of what went on what table and moving everything from the outdoor ceremony to the indoor reception (and watching over things).
  • My preference is for guest books to stay on the store shelves.

If you must have one, and you want people to sign it, it goes in a prominent place at the entrance to the reception site, near a pushy female who won't let anyone in without signing.
