Las Vegas themed reception back home

my fiance and I are getting married in Las Vegas and planning on having an outdoor reception when we return. the reception will be in early to mid september and the theme will be Las Vegas. I need ideas of things we could do at the recpetion, kinds of favors I could have etc. I would love to hear any ideas you have for my reception.

  • The ladies on the Las Vegas local board may have ideas. You can access it from the link to the left of the page.

Favors are not required and most people don't miss them if you opt out of them due to personal preference or budget concerns. However if you must have them, go with something edible, otherwise you risk people throwing them out, which is money that can easily be used elsewhere they actually appreciate such as food/drink and entertainment. Or else put it toward your photography.

Play a variety of Rat Pack music. Also some modern singers have recorded songs about Vegas. Faith Hill's "Let's Go To Vegas" is one example.

  • Some people will actually have a "casino night" AHR.  If they're playing for fake money or using, say, chocolate coins instead of chips, it's not actually gambling and you don't have to worry about breaking any laws.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Casino party nights are a pretty popular concept and there's a good chance that an entertainment/party company in your area does them. They'll bring in the different gambling tables, dealers and they use fake money. I don't know how expensive it is, but they're a lot of fun.

For favors, you can do chocolate coins with a poker chip or casino chip wrapper.
Here's a link to company that does them http://www.vegasimage.com/customer/home.php
